Sweeteners

keep-calm-and-sweet-on-2We love the sweet taste because sweet provides satisfaction in our lives. In traditions like Ayurveda, the people distinguish between sweet, sour, salty, astringent, bitter and pungent.
One taste is not necessarily considered “good” or “bad,” nor superior to others. They all have different effects. In Western culture the taste “sweet” has not been treated like a condiment but added in extremely high amounts to mostly all processed foods, exceeding all moderation — no wonder that even natural sweeteners have received the reputation to be “bad” and “unhealthy”.

Divine Organics offers natural alternatives to conventional concentrated and highly processed sweeteners which will aid to sweeten our lives in the most balanced way. Just don’t forget to treat a sweetener like you would add a bitter herb or hot spicy chili and include all tastes into your diet.

Agave Nectar

Certified organic Agave Nectar is a sweetener naturally extracted from the Salmiana Agave, a cactus-like plant native to Mexico. The native farmers collect the “honey water” twice daily from the core of the agave, and take it to a certified location for filtering and processing. The maximum temperature never exceeds 113 degrees F. Agave Nectar dissolves easily. It is a natural low glycemic sweetener, great for any dessert, tea and beverage. You can even use 30% less for equal amount of any sweetener or honey. Our Agave nectar is pure and not mixed with with corn syrup or glucose. Our light agave nectar has the sweet and characteristic aroma of the agave plant, our amber nectar has a sweet and slight caramel flavor.

Yacon Syrup

Yacón syrup is a sweetening agent extracted from the roots of a indigenous yacon syrup in a bowlDivine Organics Yacon Syrupplant (Smallanthus sonchifolius) indigenous to the Andes mountains.

In Peru and Bolivia, people eat yacón because of its nutritional properties—few calories and low sugar levels, suitable for people with diabetes or other digestive renal disorders. Studies have shown that  a daily intake of yacón syrup produced a significant decrease in body weight, waist circumference and body mass index when given to pre-menopausal women.
Yacon syrup’s sweetness comes from a high concentration of inulin, a complex sugar that breaks down slowly into fructooligosaccharides (FOS) who can feed friendly bacteria while reducing the harmful bacteria in the intestines. It tastes sweet like molasses or caramelized sugar but won’t spike your blood sugar levels. Yacon is also a good source of potassium, calcium, phosphorous and iron, as well as 20 amino acids.
Use it like any other sweet syrup to liven up baked goods, smoothies, desserts, sauces and dressings.
The functional Squeeze bottle fits into every handbag, conveniently low glycemic wellbeing on the go!
